Small business marketing thoughts from a marketing small business owner

It’s sink or swim time

cmswim_article_wideweb__470x3910The election’s finally over and the economy is still the topic at the top of the news. Besides business issues which I have talked about previously, individual families are also continuing to feel the pressures. After all, a family is like a business with incomes and outflows, profit and loss.

During these difficult times, people are turning to the Internet for information on how to deal with their particular problems. I was thinking that this week would be the perfect opportunity to share with others what you are doing to keep your family’s proverbial head above water. Are you currently in the market for another position? Are you thinking of picking up a part-time job? How secure do you feel in your current position and what are you doing to make yourself invaluable?

I hope that you share. During these trying times, we all need to stick together.

  1. Jeff, your blog was very timely when I saw it listed on LinkedIn as I was in the middle of trying to re-invent the family budget. While my job seems secure, the family spending had been getting out of control, and this current crisis along with the desire to do some serious home improvement projects, highlighted the need to take an alternate approach to managing the family’s income. Now if I could just get my wife to buy into it!

  2. Without a doubt, these times are exceptionally difficult and can be trying on marriages and relationships. Just today, my wife was talking with our state trooper neighbor who told her that he’s had to respond to 2 domestics in the past 24 hours in our town. We’re in a very small upscale town. If it’s hitting us here, then it’s got to be slamming everyone everywhere.

My wife and I are working diligently toward resolving the holes in our budget ourselves. We’ll be thinking of you and your family as we all try to get through this hard time.
